Visual Novels That Feature Delectable Food

These visual novels have yummy in-game food!

Have you ever played a visual novel that shows or describes food so deliciously it makes your mouth water? Food in visual novels can be fun and immersive, so here are some visual novels that feature yummy food.

The Arcana

Platforms: Android, iOS (Google Play) (App Store)

Price: Free with in-app purchases

The Arcana features very descriptive cuisines native to the fictional world of Vesuvia. Bread Guy’s Pumpkin Bread, Devil’s Carolina Reaper Chocolate, Hestion’s Caramel Apple Bread Pudding, and Lucio’s Chocolate Chip Cookies are just some of the mouth-watering goodies in the game.

One fan, Fandom Queen Faren, created a cookbook inspired by the food in The Arcana. It’s a thorough compilation of recipes that best resemble Vesuvian meals. You can find drinks, meals, appetizers, and desserts inside.

The Arcana is an LGBTQ+-friendly visual novel with mystery and romance. You play as a young tarot card reader, and the story begins in a magic shop where you awake with no memories. Choose your pronouns and uncover the characters’ hidden secrets.

Strawberry Vinegar

Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One (eShop) (PS Store) (Xbox) (Steam) (itch.io)

Price: $9.99

Strawberry Vinegar features a generous selection of appetizing foods both sweet and savory, but you can also expect a lot of strawberries. Strawberry cheesecake, strawberry cakes, shrimp tempura, and takoyaki are some of the foods that are shown as full CGs.

The artwork is phenomenal. The food CGs are wonderful eye candy for a foodie. Strawberry Vinegar showcases some of the most appetizing (and cutest) foods I’ve ever seen in a VN.

Strawberry Vinegar is a light GxG visual novel developed by ebi-hime. The story follows the relationship between a grumpy girl and a self-proclaimed demon. This game features six different endings and is roughly 85,000 words long.

I Love You, Colonel Sanders!

Platforms: Windows, Mac (Steam)

Price: Free

It’s no surprise that a game about cooking and KFC food has an vast display of delicious imagery, just enough to make your stomach grumble. Chicken drumsticks quite literally fly across the screen, and the biscuits are fluffy and screaming to be consumed.

The artists did an A+ job at making the cartoon version of KFC look as delectable and crisp as it does in real life. The fried chicken and creamy mashed potatoes with gravy have a sparkly shine to them. Playing this game made me hungry for the real deal.

I Love You, Colonel Sanders! was released in 2019 and published by KFC. You play as a budding culinary student and compete in cooking battles against your peers. There are nine dateable love interests, and you can romance the one and only Colonel Sanders himself.
